The Need

Historically, evangelicals in Italy have primarily come from the lower to lower-middleclasses, with minimal inroads into the upper class—the influential segment of society comprising top business leaders, professionals, and civic figures. This elite group holds significant influence over societal trends and public opinion. In Italy, as in many cultures, a distinct social hierarchy exists, where individuals are more likely to be influenced by peers or those they perceive as social “superiors,” while being less receptive to those they view as “inferiors.”

Despite their worldly success, many within the upper class continue to seek deeper meaning in life. At the same time, Italy’s younger generation is facing a growing crisis.Parental influence has significantly diminished due to soaring divorce and separation rates, leaving many young people without strong role models. As a result, this new generation is increasingly adrift, lacking both guidance and moral foundations.

Those who attempt to explore “religion” independently often struggle to interpret scriptures, ultimately drifting away due to a lack of understanding.

The Challenge

This reality presents a unique challenge to the evangelical movement in Italy: how to penetrate both the upper echelons of society and the fatherless youth with the Gospel. Traditional evangelistic methods such as literature distribution, outdoor events, have had their limitations.

In contrast, the most effective means of spreading the Gospel in Italy is through natural social networks—family, friendships, and professional connections. However, evangelicals in Italy often lack access to these influential circles. Youth programs, where they exist, tend to be culturally outdated and fail to address the unique needs ofthe new generation.

The Goal

In response to this need, Peppo and Jane have launched a ministry that directly addresses these strategic challenges. Their approach focuses on building personal relationships with influential individuals and their families, using these natural connections to spread the Gospel. They’ve seen remarkable results, particularly through their work with influencers in Palm Beach,Chattanooga,Rome, and SouthernItaly.

Peppo and Jane strongly believe in the principle of “Nationals shaping Nationals.” Their mission is to equip Italians with a hunger for the Gospel, empowering them tobecome agents of transformation within their own communities. Equipping isfundamental thus the daily audible program of the 4 Gospels in a year verse by verse.
